72-hours notice for prescription requests
From 1st August 2019 we will be moving from 48 working hours notice for all prescription requests to 72 working hours notice.
This is not a decision we have taken lightly as the practice has for over two decades tried to ensure its prescriptions are ready for patients within forty-eight working hours. However in the interests of safety we run far more checks on your medication than we ever did, ensuring that you have had regular blood tests, reviews with the GP or checks with the nurse. Patient safety is at the heart of everything we do and we do hope you will understand this change to our system to give us an extra working day to ensure we comply with local and national safety standards.
Fire Service to Visit our Practice
We are delighted to announce that the Fire Service will be visiting our practice on a regular basis each month to offer free safety advice to our vulnerable patients either in the surgery or at their home. The management team Melanie, James & Louise met with them and are looking forward to them joining our practice team.
Don't feel you necessarily need to see us?
For minor ailments there are resources for self-help available to the right under Quick links. Or for children (aged 0-18) you can visit https://www.what0-18.nhs.uk/.
The resources on the Healthier Together website have been developed in partnership between parents and healthcare professionals from across Dorset, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. You'll find clear information on common childhood illnesses, including advice on what 'red-flag' signs to look out for, where to seek help if required, what you should do to keep your child comfortable and how long your child's symptoms are likely to last.
Please note the practice will be closed for training on:

Tues 15th October 2019 (13:30-16:30)

The opt out has been applied by NHS Digital since 25 May 2018 and by 2020 all health and care organisation must apply national data opt-outs in line with the policy.

GP Appointments at Wimborne or Poole Hospitals
We are working to improve access to appointments for our patients, in particular at evenings and weekends. If you would like to be offered one of these appointments, please ask. These appointments may be at a different site; for example, Wimborne or Poole Hospitals.
In order for the GPs and Nurse Practitioners at the practice to effectively plan their day and rounds, we ask that requests for home visits are made before 10.30am. Your usual GP, if they are working, will visit you if the request is made before 10.30. Visits after this may be dealt with by a GP you do not know. We respectfully remind patients that home visits are for the housebound.
On line services
There are many ways to contact the surgery to book or cancel appointments and order prescriptions. One of these ways is by registering for our online service especially as we now no longer accept requests for prescriptions by telephone. If this is something you would like to sign up for please email Chgp.email@example.com
We are proud to be a teaching practice, training the next generation of GPs. You may be offered an appointment with our Registrar who is a fully qualified doctor, but one who is now training to be a GP. Our Registrar can call on their mentor (one of the GPs at the practice) at any time should they need to. Their clinical work is also strictly monitored by their GP trainer/mentor. For the purposes of teaching it may be necessary for your record to be reviewed by the Registrar and the teacher/mentor after your appointment or during one of the Registrar's one-to-one teaching sessions with their GP trainer/mentor. Please be aware that access to your records is strictly controlled and in line with our confidentiality policy.
